Cantina Dos Amigos, known for its Mexican food and margaritas in Indialantic, has opened an additional location in Satellite Beach. It looks small from the outside, but inside, it has the feel of a lofty garage, decorated with surfboards. Tables surround a large bar in the middle.

It was so dark at lunch, we old folks had trouble seeing our menus, but after our eyes adjusted, we spied a large selection of Mexican favorites. Unfortunately, it was lunchtime, and we felt it wouldn’t be a good idea to indulge in the large margarita menu with an afternoon of work awaiting us. A half-dozen “specialty tequilas” are available, along with beer and a smattering of wine.

The food menu ranges from fish dishes, salads, specialties and $9.95 dinners, which most of us ordered. They all came with uninspired but not unexpected rice and beans. I got the spinach enchilada, which was rich, flavorful and more than filling for the price. A friend said she found her chimichanga good but a bit bland, though she acknowledged it was a blessing in disguise for those with heartburn issues. Another friend really liked her burrito con carne, with nicely cooked chunks of chicken.

Really good was the carne asada salad, also for $9.95, with grilled steak, peppers, onions, lettuce and tomato, accompanied by a fresh-tasting cilantro dressing. Other salads on the menu include various avocado, chicken and Caesar salads, with combinations thereof.

Churros came with our dinners — the fried-dough sticks coated in lots of sugar and cinnamon. What’s not to like? Service was friendly, and our lunch was fast. It’s clear this will be a welcome beachside watering hole, as well. We’ll be back to enjoy the atmosphere and check out the margaritas.
