Kanye West
After rocking Detroit two weeks ago, Eminem and Jay-Z reunited for the first of two historic shows at Yankee Stadium. "It's one of the most unbelievable feelings in the world, being from New York and being in Yankee stadium," Jay told the sellout crowd. Then he and Em proceeeded to deliver an unbelievable show, filled with hits from each of their own catalogs plus guest appearances galore: Kayne West, Drake, Dr. Dre, Swizz Beatz, Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent, and of course Mrs. Shawn Carter herself, Beyoncé. Even Coldplay's Chris Martin dropped by to sing a few verses.
There were Biggie Smalls, Tupac and Proof tributes, a "Free Weezy" chant led by Drake, and a rare chance for fans to hear "Renegade," Em and Hova's collaboration from the latter's classic "Blueprint" album. But the evening's highlight by far, of course, was a stadium-sized sing-along of "Empire State of Mind." Alicia Keys was not in the building, but who needs her when you've got 60,000 leather-lunged New Yorkers?
