"Robin Hood: The Prince of Thieves"
The most timeless tale of robbing from the rich and giving to the poor had its most successful recent telling in this ‘90s version starring Kevin Costner as Robin of Locksley. “Sweeney Todd” supporting player Alan Rickman creates one of the most indelible additions to his rogues’ gallery of screen villains as the power-mad Sheriff of Nottingham. Although viewer sympathies never stray from the idealistic Robin, when the Sheriff threatens to cut out Robin’s heart with a spoon, Rickman’s creepy/funny persuasiveness in the role almost makes us want to see him try.
