We narrowed it down to the best of the best. You did the rest. After two weeks and almost 7,300 votes, Metromix Brevard users have picked the cream of the crop in our second annual Best of Metromix contest.

Scott’s on Fifth in Indialantic landed a repeat honor as best restaurant, as did Squid Lips Overwater Grill in Melbourne for best restaurant with a water view. Voters chose newcomer Bianco’s Big League Family Eatery in Rockledge for the best burger.

For our libations categories, Meg O’Malley’s in downtown Melbourne scored a repeat nod for best bar along with Duffy’s Sports Grill in Melbourne for best sports bar.

Five nominees in 13 categories — ranging from best brunch to best date restaurant — were selected based on restaurant reviews, reader nominations and user-generated comments on this website.

This year, we introduced two new categories: best breakfast restaurant and best wings. Five categories from the Best of Metromix 2010 were taken out — best music venue, place to grab a beer, coffee shop, café and steak. The winners in those categories were placed in categories that best fit. Last year’s winners were given the chance to repeat their success.

One hotly contested category was best Italian restaurant. For the second straight year, Don Guiseppe’s Italian Bistro in Melbourne won that title. It’s known as Don Giuseppe’s and Don Guiseppe’s. You can check out the comments on “the buzz from readers like you.” You’ll find comments on this and every other category, along with contest gripes and high-fives.
