What: Time Out Sports Bar
Where: 1275 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach
Hours: 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday; and 6 p.m. to midnight Sunday, until football season starts
Entertainment: DJ Josh spins top 40 and hip-hop at 10 p.m. Thursdays. Thursdays also are "flip-it nights" -- order a drink, then a bartender flips a coin. If you call "heads" or "tails" right, you get the drink for free. If you're wrong, you pay regular price.
Time Out tells us the bar has bands once a month, sometimes more.
Happy hour: From 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays, get $1 off mixed drinks. The beer prices are bottled domestics for $2.50, a bucket of five beers for $10.
Food and drink: There's no food, but Time Out has a full liquor bar. Like martinis? Time Out serves them, too. Get a Pabst Blue Ribbon pint for $1.50.
Atmosphere: Like many sports bars, Time Out has big screen TVs and shows college and pro ball. The venue has Texas Hold 'em, pool tables and beanbag toss. Folks who work there claim it's the best sports bar on the beach, definitely a great football venue. When the pro season starts, it usually hosts a tailgate kickoff party.
You can play many games at Time Out, including ping-pong, steel tip and electric darts, Wii and an electronic silver strike bowling.
Crowd: We visited Time Out Sports Bar on a Friday night, then returned the next day for its Barlympics. There were prizes for first, second and third. Both days, the patrons were mostly in their 20s to 40s with a crowd of locals and tourists that was fun and friendly. On Friday night, there was a handful of people playing pool and poker while listening to the jukebox. On Saturday, several patrons came out to take part in games such as beer pong, darts and beanbag toss.
Time Out is spacious, not too dark and not smoky, as smoking is only allowed outside.
