Zap Squad review: Fishlips

What: Fishlips, a hot spot at Port Canaveral

Where: 610 Glen Cheek Drive, Cape Canaveral, 784-4533; fishlipswaterfront.com

Hours: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday; kitchen is open the same hours

Entertainment: Fishlips hosts DJs and bands every day but Monday. During the day on Sunday, listen to acoustic music during brunch.

Happy hour: From 4 to 7 p.m. daily and 9 p.m. to close daily, get $1 off all drinks. Also, look for drink specials such as $3 margaritas and bucket specials.

Ladies night: On Tuesday nights, women drink free from 9 p.m. to close. They have a choice of house wells, wines or draft beer. Fishlips also serves martinis. We recommend its "5-star chocolatini."

Food and drink: Sunday brunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mimosa brunch is a plated dish with your choice of eggs Benedict, a crab cake Benedict, shrimp and grits, a Monte Cristo, omelets, fresh fruits and eggs to order. Prices range from $6 to $13.

Fishlips specializes in fish and seafood. We hear the tuna dishes, such as the Hawaiian Ahi, are popular. We're told Fishlips gets a lot of special requests on ways to prepare the fresh catch. They say special orders don't upset them.

There is a kids menu, too.

Most popular item on the menu: Fish and chips

Entree prices: Range from $11 to $22

Atmosphere: This restaurant and bar is on the water. There's a view almost anywhere you sit. It has two stories -- downstairs is the dining area, which is a quieter, family-friendly environment; and a sports bar upstairs. Same menu is served in both places. There's an outside patio area downstairs and an upstaired covered deck and outside sun area.

Crowd: On the night we went -- ladies night -- the women were out in full force, and so were the guys. The majority of the crowd was in their 20s and 30s, but we only visited the upstairs bar area, as the downstairs already was closed for the night. This group was full of energy and ready for fun.

Patrons partied like it was the weekend even though it was a Tuesday. Even as we were calling it a night, people still were filing in.

Fishlips is very casual and carefree, allowing people to let loose or sit back and watch the fun.

Cover charge: Never

Smoking: Outside only

Ages: All ages, families and tourists are welcome.

Dress code: Casual's welcome, shirts and shoes required, even if you come from the water. A lot of people sport their bathing suits, wearing flip-flops.

Parking: On site
