What: Coconuts on the Beach or simply Coconuts
Where: 2 Minutemen Causeway, Cocoa Beach; 321-784-1422; www.coconutsonthebeach.com
Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily
Entertainment: During the season, there's live music every day. On the weekends, Coconuts will have two bands playing, one in the day, one at night, or sometimes an additional band inside.
Happy hour: From 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays, get half off on almost all alcohol except for top-shelf, frozen drinks and shots. For example, a Stoli and soda? Half price. Tanq and tonic? Half price, too.
Ladies' night: Nope. Coconuts recently switched it up. The restaurant and bar traded ladies' night for a weeknight happy hour from 10 p.m. to close. It's different and a little more restrictive from the 4-to-7 weekdays deal; call for specifics.
Food and drink: Get breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner's from 5 to about 11 p.m. After that until 2 a.m., the kitchen switches to a selective late-night menu.
Coconuts features a daily fresh catch that changes during the week. We're told sometimes they'll have three catches of the day; sometimes they'll have six. The restaurant has different soups, seafood to lobster and steaks, burgers, wings and more.
Coconuts has a full liquor bar.
Most popular item on the menu: We hear the fish is incredibly popular. Most like it grilled. You can get it blackened or jerked.
Average price for an entre: For dinners, it's $11 to $25. Prices are slightly cheaper for lunch.
Most popular drink on the menu: Pain in the "butt," which is half rum runner, half pina colada with an extra shot of rum on the side, aka "the floater" or "the tooter."
Atmosphere: Coconuts is fun, lively, entertaining, busy, jam-packed and welcoming. Check out our "today at the beach" galleries on Metromix Brevard at brevard.metromix.com.
Crowd: On the night we went, patrons of all ages were out and ready for the weekend. This fun, friendly crowd was a mix of locals and tourists. Coconuts has that island-style feel with tropical murals covering the walls. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Some patrons came right from the beach still in suits, while others dressed it up a bit. Locals know Coconuts has the potential sometimes to get crazy, but on this Friday night, patrons kept it low-key, enjoying a good time with friends, family, drinks, food and live entertainment.
Cover charge: No
Smoking: Outside only
Ages: All ages, but Coconuts is carding at the door about 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. After that, it's 21 and up.
Dress code: Anything goes; but, Coconuts says, after 7 p.m., please wear a shirt.
Parking: On site
